You’d be surprised to feel the difference in a keywell such as yours paired with super sculpted keycaps! Assuming that a keywell makes keycap sculpting unnecessary, but then learnt that the manuform was designed around SA keycaps, I gave that a try, with extra sculpt. Instead of the regular 2,3,4 (3rd row being flat, 2 and 4 being slightly sculpted in opposite direction), I tried 1,3,4, where 1st row is for number row and fn row. It’s super tall and sculpted. It was heavily! It reduced finger movement even more, but as you said - it was in a natural way.

Highly recommended!

My previous Dactyl Manuform was very low profile with choc switches, it was very elegant, more than most Dactyl Manuforms. The last one I built and am using now, is the bog standard 3x5 with SA keycaps - much, much taller but so much better!

What didn’t you like about the U4? Are you using the U4t (for tactile)? It’s the first silent switch I’ve used and I love it, but don’t know any better. I might have to get new switches for building your variation, and if you’ve got a recommendation for a u4t alternative (and the reason it’s better) I’d love to hear it!

Anyway - great photos, and again, beautiful build!

Israeli military is not for volunteers, it’s for everyone. The top ranking generals and chiefs of staff were prominent against Netanyahu and this extremist incompetent government. They are also said that human rights activists that give a voice to solders that saw atrocious acts of the idf itself. This is not the norm, contrary to what the media would have you think. This, according to the top ranking Israeli ex officers, is how the idf should fix its wrongs.

I’ll look at the design and maybe order it this evening.

I’ll also see how easy it could be to connect a xiao ble controller instead.

Wow, Thank you! For the 5 column fix especially. That’s very generous of you.

I know next to nothing about 30 printing, I intend to order it from some service. Any settings I should ask for? Which would be altogether better, MJF or SLS?

Israel voluntarily got out of Gaza, it would be suicide to go back, both temporarily (as is done now) and of course permanently.

The amount of money spilled from all over the world into Gaza could have made it a beautiful paradise, or a second Tel Aviv.

People there are refugees because hamas is happy with them being refugees.

Israels government are a bunch of criminals, but not for anything to do with Gaza. It’s an impossible conflict in which the only winners are the extremists on both sides who use it to show the world how there is no other way than force. Hamas justifies hiding under hospitals by saying that’s the only way to defend themselves, the corrupt, incompetent, extremist, Israeli government now want to blame the 2006 government for leaving Gaza and by that bringing this assault upon them.

I love the DM. I was wondering about how it compares to similar boards, or to be honest - looking for an excuse to build another, and for the right board, to be different enough to justify a new build

I’d love to try it out! Looking forward to it.

Do you intend sharing it in this sub?

Now to look for a good and not too expensive place to print it :-)

Edit: Forgot to ask - is it too thin to handwire? Was hoping to keep it cheap.

The concept was to hit both keys together at the centre of the column, emulating a basic qwerty board with less vertical movement. Never got it to work properly when it was difficult. Might try now that it’s trivial

Can’t see the photo yet, happened earlier with the first comment and then got fixed.

It’s beautiful! That is what ill build! Is it a lot to get other than 3D print?

what did you modify??? Please share :-)

Edit: OK, your thumb cluster is a must. Is it low profile switches or just really cool keycaps?

Would editing it to be a 5 column board be a lot of work?

Edit 2: Would you be willing to share your modifications?

It’s surprising to me that having redundancy isn’t common. I’ve got several ways to get to numbers, arrows, I can reach any key using the left hand only (and one day I’ll be arsed to fix things so that the right hand could too). It’s mostly theoretical, as some of the combinations are not well memorised, but those I found useful obviously are.
