My only regret is that I wasn’t here sooner! I missed the CTH discord but now I’m glad to be back in the same boat

Nah, I was really lazy when picking my name the first time I tried to learn mandarin, but I did keep it despite everything. Happy coincidence I’ve been Dong on most sites for a while now.

Love shadowrun! While I can’t commit, I had a lot of fun with a dwarf decker that was addicted to Long-Haul and terrified of the bugs in Chicago. I hope it goes well! If you wanna chat about how any of the sessions go (I call it GM Aftercare) my inbox is always open!

Personally, the book Hardwired and movie Logan’s Run had the biggest effect on me. eXistenZ came close as well, and Neuromancer and it’s sequels are classics. As far as ttrpgs, Shadowrun and Cyberpunk have unique things to offer, but I continually find myself drawn to the “stranger in a strange land” trope perpetuated by the show Futurama and tabletop games like Metamorphosis Alpha and Journey to the Barrier Peaks.

I’m more familiar with the subreddit than the actual test created in 2001. With that being said, generally Political Compass reinforces the views of in groups (neoliberalism, CenTRism, etc) while using the veneer of “oh, we can all shit on each others ideologies RESPECTABLY” to discourage actual discussions and tone police people who are rightfully upset with hate speech.

This went about as well as you’d think it did, with the sub reaching national headlines for somehow equating that gender politics = grooming, and the dog piling made many leftists leave. I haven’t been there in ages but I’d presume the people still using that site are now akin to astrologist/ Myers Briggs people who think they know everything about a person and their viewpoints based on some arbitrary questionnaire whose methods have never been published, and more importantly use that to avoid critical conversations and allow literal Nazi’s a seat at the debate table.

Sorry if this is an incomprehensible blur, I haven’t had coffee yet

Man, this and Beyond Boulder Dome were the two mods that got me into creating my own stories, mods, and eventually a GURPS fallout campaign set in my old hometown. I distinctly remember not having internet, and having to lug my 5 pound laptop to McDonald’s for 2 hours so I could see what this mod that Al and everyone else was talking about. The Unity and Shi were great callbacks that I loved getting to see again.

Will try to keep this all organized;

Stories, no, except for really old fanfic that I’m not pleased with the quality anymore. Mods; I was a voice actor for Autumn Leaves, a New Vegas mod that was really fun. Most of my other stuff is private bc I didn’t have regular access to internet till I was 18. Campaign if you’re interested I have session notes and the like, but it’s just the falloutification of Southern Illinois (Soil, I called it).

As someone who played the older games first, I LOVED Boulder dome. Essentially the mod was reintroducing a bunch of themes and characters from Fallout 3 (no, not that one. The cancelled one, Van Buren; which now exists as Project Van Buren. I definitely recommend checking it out if you like isometric games) also in BBD there’s cats, and the legion/ncr conflict spills over here. Determined place in timeline 2277, same as New Vegas.

Canon enough, I’d say. I still consider Fallout Tactics and Fallout Brotherhood of steel canon until proven otherwise, so I’m a little biased.

You’d probably have a good time reading the Fallout Bible if you haven’t yet. Tons of world building lore from the original creators in it.

As far as Fallout 1-2, tactics, and BoS, it’s complicated. If you’re familiar with games in that genre, like Baldur’s Gate, Planescape Torment, etc you’ll probably really enjoy them. At the same time, modern gaming has spoiled us (I have to have the aim down sights mod for fallout 3, for instance because I got too used to it), and some people consider it a slog. While I have your ear though I’d highly recommend Underrail (inspired by fallout), Wasteland series (inspired fallout), and Nuka Break if you haven’t seen it yet (on YouTube)

“If you can take a designer handbag and resell it for 30% off online … the consumer has to be a little concerned about that,” Johnston said.

OH NO!!! Won’t somebody think of the designer handbag companies??? How am I supposed to show I’m not poor if my handbag is 30% cheaper elsewhere???
