I thought of the same app, it’s pretty cool. It should suck as a developer being sherlocked by Apple.

I do believe that a part of the decision is the buzz it creates. I’d never heard of Silo until every tech website reported that the first episode was posted on Twitter.

Wow! It really does feel very similar to Apollo. It will undoubtedly make the transition easier.

Thanks!

I do have installed as a PWA, and although I’m really liking it visually, it’s a bit buggy. I’d like to know if the bugginess is because of its beta status or the fact that it’s not native.

If it’s the latter, it’d be unfortunate since it’s making my switch to Lemmy so much smoother as I feel like I’m using Apollo, which I’m very used to.

Thats’s fair, most, if not all, of these apps has just started development, and it’s pretty impressive what they’ve accomplished so far.

Right now I feel like when Mastodon started to grow exponentially last year, all of a sudden there were a ton of new pretty good clients. I can see something similar happening here.

I gotta say tho that although using wefwef is helping me getting used to not open Apollo, I think it would be really great if it grows to become its own thing once the platform matures.

Why would you punish your users for using your fucking site? It’s kinda sad how Elon is ruining Twitter.

Do you know if there are usage stats posted somewhere? I would like to see how much people joins in the upcoming weeks.

I can see how having communities with the same name across different servers can be confusing for some people though.

Some people non-ironically think that all he needs to do is CMD F “Reddit” and change it to “Lemmy” in the app code, and all the functionality would be there.

The problem with this kind of decisions is that there are some people that want the fediverse to remain somehow underground, which would drive some people away from it.

As for the Reddit talk, I reckon it’s expected given how much people is coming expecting to get the Reddit experience. However, I believe the dust will settle as the time passes, and everyone will start to see Lemmy as its own thing.

A similar thing happens at Mastodon every time there’s a new influx of users. People want to have a familiar experience, and that’s normal.
