Old & Deaf, but still not dead šŸ¤£ Far too much sport for my age. Arch Linux user, and now Debian for a HomeAssitant setup. Open source user where possible, computers and gadgets to keep me occupied & thinking. https://www.minty95.com

I donā€™t use Trillium, tried once Obsidian but itā€™s not free. Have you tried Joplin, itā€™s free works extremely well with Dropbox or NextCloud for syncing between tĆ©lĆ©phone and the PC. For note taking its extremely good

Diaro sends me a notification and the end of the Day, reminding me to write something.

I keep a diary using Diaro on my android phone. I started a long time ago in note books, but as even I canā€™t alway read my own writing, switched to typing. I donā€™t write much, mostly rubbish, what I do find useful is the ability to search and find things, ā€˜repaired the fridgeā€™ ā€˜changed the battery in the smoke alarmā€™, ā€˜had so and so around for dinnerā€™ , ā€˜bought this and thatā€™ ā€¦ Itā€™s only for myself, do when Iā€™m dead and gone it will just disappear like myself

Yes i know, i tried it about two times, but found it extremely poor, was easier to install it by ā€˜handā€™

The Arch install is much lighter, Endeavour like many other linuxes, installs programs that you may or may not require. I prefer adding programd when I require them

After reading what you wrote and as I have time, being retiredā€¦ thought Iā€™d look at what you suggested, so now I have Duckdns & WireGuard setup as well, itā€™s no where as easy as Tailscale. So I wrote a post, rather long šŸ˜ on my blog about setting it up https://www.minty95.com/remote-access-home-assistant-from-your-phone/ Maybe it will help others save time. Thanks for giving me the idea to look into it šŸ‘

Maybe a second hand NAS? They can be found dirt cheap, and often you can upgrade the HDs easily, or if your running a desktop PC with room, just add internal HDs as these are cheaper

Garmin Epix Pro gen 2, by far the best, as like the 7x but with an OLED screen. A real fitness watch, rather than a apple smart watch

Installation was a breeze, far far easier than wireguard with duckdns. (which I have now just done as well) But canā€™t you add it to HA as a add-on?
