I think this will just lead to reddit becoming more mainstream - not in a good way but in the way facebook did. This already happened in the past thanks to marketing pushes and most of the bigger subs are really crappy at this point.
So in the long term, reddit might die due to the quality of the content becoming worse. But for now investors might be happy.

Exactly. I don’t get the mentality of not running ads in a YouTube video where someone said „fuck“ but being completely fine with running your ads on twitter.
I mean just checking the feed these days is incredibly toxic. Seems like only people of a certain mindset kept sticking around.
The Nintendo Switch when it came out. I was super hyped and somehow the console even exceeded my expectations.
Playing Breath of the Wild for the first time was amazing and even after 6 years the console still feels modern to me.

In addition to what the others said, there was a „campaign“ a while ago that you should boost and not favorite on Mastodon.
Since there’s no algorithm that promotes liked posts in the timeline, liking something doesn’t do a whole lot.
