What happens if lemmy.world or any other instance goes down without notice? Then there’d be a void of communities for a while right, or do other instances keep backups of some sort? Thinking about this now that .world gets tons of attention.

Oh yeah totally agree with you. Got a Google Coral stick the other day after waiting for OK prices and it’s a really nice game changer if you have cameras around the house. Managed to get notifications when my cats are nearby, all through Home Assistant.

Not the biggest deal-breaker, so polled is good enough for me since it is a low priority channel for me anyways.
