Oppositional Defiance Disorder

Oooo I love learning a term that perfectly describes something I previously couldn’t!!

ETA: Oh my.

Oppositional defiant disorder (Also called: ODD).
A disorder in a child marked by defiant and disobedient behavior to authority figures.

Bruh, “in a child”? These are full grown adults!

Some children with ODD outgrow the condition by age eight or nine. But about half of them continue to experience symptoms of ODD through adulthood. People with ODD report feeling angry all of the time, and about 40 percent of them become progressively worse and develop antisocial personality disorder.

Wow. WOW. So many things in the world just made so much more sense to me in the last 5 minutes. Holy shit.

I mean, hell, we can forget the “c-word” and we still have this huge issue with foreign (and even domestic!) bad actors stirring shit up with disinformation campaigns in our society. When will our government acknowledge it and actually fucking DO something??

“She is missing birthdays and holidays for this. She truly believes this is all real and we are the crazy ones for trying to get her to come home. But she won’t, I don’t believe she will ever come back from this. We are in mourning.”

We truly have a sickness in our society. Sure would be nice if certain politicians - who are quick to blame mental health issues for our societies woes - could focus on things like the Qanon Qult tearing apart families rather than, oh, you know, the gays.

Hard to imagine losing a professional license for someone who dropped you like a sack of potatoes after throwing caution and profession to the wind to go to bat for them.

This, folks, is the result of actual Trump Derangement Syndrome. 🤷🏽‍♂️

“Once they can be convinced again that the activities are safe, then they will go back,” he said. “The human nature is to think, ‘Well, this will happen to other people. This won’t happen to me. I will be more careful.’”

There is never a shortage of hubris, in other words. 🤦🏽‍♂️

I like to think of it this way; I believe in universal suffrage, but I sure wish some wouldn’t exercise it (at least, not the way they do…).

weaponized disinformation is a legitimate threat that shouldn’t be downplayed

If anything, I’d like to see this be made one of the more important issues by our politicians. It really bugs me that, after all the attacks on our society by bad actors using actual disnfo campaigns, there really isn’t anyone making it a major campaign issue (correct me if I’m wrong!). These bad actors are using our obsession with free speech as a weapon against us, fighting a war that our government doesn’t appear to give two shits about. I really believe we can figure a way to fight back without stepping on freedom’s toes. I mean, we’re supposed to be fucking America for chrissakes, we can figure this out!
