Could you elaborate a little? I think I’ve got a reasonable handle on how Lemmy works across instances, but there are still a couple of things that I haven’t grasped just yet.
- User accounts - I have accounts with the same username across 3 or 4 different instances at this point. I’m still yet to grasp how a ban would work in the fediverse, or who would ultimately be responsible for a global ban. If I were banned for posting piracy related content on one instance, would that just mean that I can no longer participate on that particular instance? That nobody from that instance could see my posted content from other instances? Would all of my content disappear altogether? Is there some sort of link between my accounts given that they have the same username?
It’s all quite confusing on that front.
- Overarching powers - is the banhammer truly localised, or is there an over-arching censor power that could wipe out a user across multiple instances at once?

Android Auto is basically a ‘standard’ - your inbuilt car multimedia or head deck only knows how to speak in Android Auto or Apple Car play. Unless the manufacturer included a facility for screen mirroring (which mostly suck), it’s pretty hard to get it to do anything else.

Box interfaces with your vehicle android auto, but is then able to pass through mirroring signal of your phone. So you interact with the in-vehicle display, but you are actually controlling your phone.
It will pass, and they will be kings of a platform made up entirely of bots and NPC’s with nothing of value to say. I have been looking for a way off that site for 5 years or more, I hated it. Hated the extreme moderation, the hardcore censorship of all open discussion during covid times and the stupidity of pun threads and bad jokes always being the top of even the most serious discussions.
I’m so bloody glad for lemmy, and especially for dbzer0 which is easily the best layout of any of the instances I’ve seen so far. I was over the moon to nuke 10 years of content that I contributed to that shitty platform.
Can you please ban me for 5 days so that I know what it looks like on this platform?
Yes, there’s a mod. I haven’t mucked around with it for a long time, but there is a mod for MK8 that will fix this issue. I know it exists, but right at this second I can’t help you find it.
That was a very enjoyable and well constructed rant. You are the voice of truth here. There are SO few situations where capacitive touch interfaces will beat a simple button or traditional potentiometer. It’s an annoying trend that needs to die.
