Criminals will always find a way. Make a surveillance state, and they’ll just break the law and use encrypted communication anyway. Might even hide data in other data if necessary.

That said, I’d wager that there are quite a few of those communities hidden in plain and unencrypted sight (discord, fediverse, etc.), but they just keep it small enough to not be found (The ones on discord did get found out eventually, but probably just moved platform). So the question would aris: why do these exist when we apparently have the resources to monitor EVERYONE given the chance?

Best you can do is to report communities and places where it runs rampant to the relevant authorities. That’s much more efficient than the authorities having to make privacy-violating laws and crawl the net themselves.

I agree that there’s a small but significant difference between " I’ve had my garden fence painted" and “I’ve painted my garden fence”.

Huh, is Windows screwing over GRUB and Linux not a bi-monthly experience anymore? Sad that it happened, but glad that it’s become novelty enough to write about.

Filters out as in hides it from you?

Ublock origin is very good at getting rid of cookie banners, though you have to enable it in settings, not sure about pay walls.

Those actually match somehow, I mean:

“Quick, we need to hold back the invaders in sector r5!”

“Invaders in sector r5? A quick release of the airlock oughta fix that! Also, Jimmy, could you go fetch me the BIG welder?”

People who rely too heavily on autocorrect do already now cause misunderstandings by writing something they did not intend to.

I had a friend during uni who was dyslectic, and while the words in his messages were written proper you still had to guess the context from the randomly thrown together words he presented you with.

Now that we can correct not only a single word or roughly the structure of a sentence, but instead fabricate whole paragraphs and articles by providing a single sentence, I imagine we will see a stark increase in low-quality content, accidental false information, and easily preventable misunderstandings - More than we already have.

I feel that a lot of posts lately have been very “ugly” in terms of data representation. Dunno what that’s about, or if it’s just me.

Who else is excited for Rootkit “anticheat/DRM” requirements for web browsers? We all already give games full system access, so why not do the same for cookies?

Hmmm, the front page looks like they’re trying to sell a LLM code generator with additional QOL to businesses, and not a developer focused IDE or extensible text editor.

Definitely not something that catches my interest as a developer. Though, I haven’t tried it, so these are just initial impressions from reading their landing page.

Edit: also, why down vote the above? It appears perfectly relevant to the discussion. If you disagree, why not make a comment about it instead?
