While there are many parts to consider, and everyone loves to make fun of Republicans for the whole “muh freedoms” thing, ironically, I want to point out that part of truly being free is the freedom to not be required to vote or even show up.

That said, it’s stupid as fuck and everyone that can should absolutely be there casting their vote.

Like everything else in the real world, there are far more shades of gray than the singular black and white way of handling things than how you’re representing it. Stop for a moment and think about your own actions growing up, going to school, getting a job, being in a relationship, etc. In every scenario, I guarantee you’ve made mistakes or poor decisions of varying degrees. I also guarantee you that some of those were abuses of power, even if most of them were very small ones. Being caught making those mistakes doesn’t always have to end in a 100% revocation of whatever power or potential power you have. Good responses tend to take into account all the nuance, including stakes and severity, and punishment is often used only as a tool of reinforcement that then lets the person have the opportunity to later show that they can and have grown and won’t make the mistake again. That is what’s happening here. If they do something like this again, even and especially with the changes being made, then yeah, it’s time for further action. Until then, the actions themselves that were harmful have been reversed and they’ve taken the time and effort to make the changes they described. Let them learn and grow.

TL;DR: You don’t get put to death for every crime, even many bigger ones; you get a measured response and an opportunity to grow.

Probably felt broken after the opening montage with the old man and couldn’t take anymore emotional torment. I can’t blame them.

There is far more nuance in real life than the myopic view your comment reflects. The amount of effort it takes to make a movie is not small. Even low-budget arthouse films take a handful of people to make and those tend to be far less focused on profit than major Hollywood big-budget blockbusters. By logic, this means that there are even more reasons for the movie being made because there are more people involved, each with their own motivations.

Additionally, I didn’t say that money doesn’t play a role or even that it wouldn’t be the primary driver for the project moving forward. What I said was that it’s never the only reason.

Also, there’s no reason to be a condescending prick.

For which there clearly has been. Some people made the various sequels because they had a story to tell, some because there is an audience that wants more from the IP, some because they wanted a chance to take part in such a project, some because they saw them as an opportunity to share their particular craft.

Movie making is a massive group effort. I can assure you that there is not a single movie where the sole reason it gets made is for money. In fact, most of them go into the project thinking it’ll be a losing prospect from an accounting point of view.

Language and communication can be difficult; let me clarify for you. My statement was hyperbolic. I’m not talking about literally going to their little book club or questioning them at every single moment in every single conversation, I’m only saying that we should take every sensical opportunity to call them on their bullshit,

The de-normalization of basing one’s actions and behavior on the collective teachings, regardless of source, called a “religion”, without following logic and the scientific method is what needs to occur. We can only make that happen if more engagement occurs.

I disagree. Think global, act local. The best thing would be for every possible person to question these people’s sanity at every opportunity and to stop normalizing belief in invisible sky daddies.
