Just taking a cursory look at the code, it appears the ranking of posts per sort is stored in the database routinely via a background process on the server: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/blob/main/src/scheduled_tasks.rs#L31C10-L31C10

So, could be to do with that. If the server is underprovisioned, maybe it’s taking an overly long time to run each calculation and everything is being held up. Complete speculation, though, at this point. 🤷

This is good advice 👍 in the medium to long-term, though, it’s possible that rates won’t be returning to ~2%, so these measures should just be considered as a way for borrowers to buy a little time.

I think it’s what db0 said, so if lemmy.world posts were to stop reaching feddit.uk entirely it might suggest lemmy.world defederating from feddit.uk (not the other way around). That’s not what’s happening here though as we’re not in the blocked list of instances on that domain.

I had a look at the ActivityPub W3C and I noticed the following paragraph:

For federated servers performing delivery to a third party server, delivery SHOULD be performed asynchronously, and SHOULD additionally retry delivery to recipients if it fails due to network error.

In this context is 3rd party server a federated server? I couldn’t see where expiry came in but presumably if the pushes are async then the server sending the payload won’t know if it succeeded or not (unless there’s some other mechanism to verify message acknowledgment).

Very cool! I am finding interactions slightly sluggish compared to desktop but that could be to do with the age of the phone and using Firefox.

Could pop the link in the sidebar of this community as well, I can’t imagine anyone being offended by that.

I would say as someone who’s moved from a Pixel 7A from a 4A, don’t waste your money. The fingerprint sensor is absolute shite (they moved away from the dedicated sensor) and I would say the phone runs too hot. Maybe if you don’t care about those things, it’s fine.

The 4A was (still is?) a far better phone overall.

Don’t feel bad, you were in a vulnerable position and even if it was a genuine request you shouldn’t feel pressured to place yourself in danger.

If you really want to help the homeless, or ease your conscience, donate to Shelter. At least there you know the money won’t be going towards someone’s drug habit.

It blows my mind that they shipped it on the 7 and 7 Pro. It’s not really acceptable on a mid range phone, let alone a premium one.

I am actually, yes, and to be fair I’d not considered this. 🤔 I guess if it’s the difference between having a scratched screen or a working fingerprint reader, I’d go with the former.
