Yeah, the problem is that is the job he was brought in to do and they are just now figuring that out. Now what? Let him go and hire a manager that plays United style? Who would that be?

Do you have any sort of automation control system? Even something as simple as SmartThings hub or even an Alexa or Google home device that is not ancient.

With a controller it is just a matter or mapping inputs to outputs. You could wire the magnetic door lock to also send a relay signal to the controller. The controller would then be programmed to turn on the TV when it sees that input.

But if you are going to turn them on remotely, what will turn them off? Will you have a separate signal that people are leaving the cage?

What will trigger the TV’s to turn off?

If you have your Ring camera connected to any sort of controller, the motion sensor becomes a trigger that your can program actions for.

I programmed mine to bring up video of the front door on the Echo Show screen. But the Ring integration with Alexa is too slow and I can just walk to the door instead of waiting for the video to load.

How does the remote work? RF or IR?

The standard approach would be to get a blaster for the same type of communication and have it learn the commands. But since the existing remote doesn’t work, this will be hard.

You will have to see if you can get a hold of the commands in a document that you can use to program your blaster.

Nope.

Not with that setup you won’t.

Your only chance is changing out the inside keyway into a common dead-bolt knob. Then you can get one of those dead-bolt knob turning bots. That is assuming your lock operates smoothly enough that the robot will have enough torque to turn the knob. I doubt it considering how much you got going on there.

Any camera that supports RTSP protocol can be connected to a local NVR for local storage. Look at brands designed for CCTV security instead of the consumer brands that focus on ease of use with cloud storage. I currently buy WiseNet cameras, but you have to buy their commercial line (not the stuff they sell on Amazon).

Do you just want to know when the official temperature for a given city reaches you set point?

Most people would approach this by having their own local thermometer and triggering off that.

By I have seen an app called Custom Weather Alerts that should do what you are asking.

I have also upgraded to a inverter based HVAC system and I’m very disappointed the thermostat required for it, while nice, is pretty limited.

AFAIK, your stat does not support anything like you describe. It acts like a z-wave bridge, but it cannot directly receive input from z-wave temp sensors for example.

I think the only way you will be able to do this is with your own controller that changes the set point on the thermostat based on your rules.

The Meross doesn’t connect to your existing garage door opener at all. There are no wire between the two units.

The Meross just pretends to be the remote control. It receives commands via WiFi then pretends like it is the remote control pressing the button.

So it will only work with your opener if it know the wireless standard used by it. Check out their compatibility list.

If you opener has a remote release contact on the PCB, you could do the same as the Meross with a smart relay and a door sensor.

Depends entirely on the valves.

If they are WiFi valves with a cloud API exposed to Google Home. No hub required, google controls them through the cloud. Which also means they won’t work if the internet is down.

If they are ZigBee/Z-wave/Thread valves. You need a hub that speaks that protocol. The biggest benefit is everything works locally and will still work if the internet is down.
