Chinese people save more money because 8 is a lucky number. In China, it's common to see prices of 188元 and 588元. Meanwhile, Americans are stuck paying $199 and $599.

Why all the 99 prices? I mean it’s clear that $599 is basically $600, so whom are they fooling?

In theory 599 looks a lot less than 600 subconsciously iirc.
