Good morning all!

We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we’re here together!

Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! I’m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.

Maybe you’re new to c/stop drinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you’re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you’ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.

It doesn’t matter if you’re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, let’s not drink alcohol! We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we’re here together!

Nothing wrong with alcohol-free beers, in my opinion. The ones up to 0.5% ABV have the same or less alcohol than many common foods (bread, bananas, orange juice), and you can no more get buzzed off an AF beer than you can off a banana sandwich. Some people may find they trigger a craving for an alcoholic beer, in which case you should avoid them, but if that’s not an issue for you, my advice would be don’t worry.

My rule is “is it legally classed as alcohol free in my country?” and if it is, I’ll drink it. Fortunately, there’s some very interesting work being done in the alcohol-free drinks space so I get to try loads of interesting things. Sometimes I only try them once because they’re not to my taste.

Yeah my friends and I drink a lot of craft beers and like to explore but we found out my local supermarket (which is a franchise of the biggest chain in my country) has a lot of alcohol free/low alcohol (ie 0.5%) craft beers. I enjoyed some of them yesterday, although most of them are the fruity IPA type.

I think it’s cool there’s a lot of development in that area. Those of us that drink beer because of the taste can still drive and don’t turn into idiots after a couple of drinks.
