Now he needs to go dig up some old computer magazines with program code listings.

My affection toward the TRS80 actually lies in the fact that I never had one. I had an Apple.

But for a period of time, many of those listings would be for the TRS80 so I taught myself to convert that code into Apple Basic.

It was a great experience except for that pesky little aspect that kids in the early eighties who were into computers tended to get the ever living hell bullied out of them.

I got my first PC in 1997 (Pentium 1 133 mhz with 1.5 GB HDD); at that point computers/pc gaming was still sort non-mainstream in the broader social sense, but all the boys in my class were into computers and video games.
