The US is beating the regime change drum again in the face of unfolding chaos in Venezuela aimed at overthrowing President Nicolás Maduro. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken indicated “the [election] results announced does not reflect the will or the votes of the Venezuelan people.” Here is an (incomplete) list of US military coups in Latin America alone since World War II.

I’m sure it’s missing others, but what comes to mind is the invasion of Grenada… they’ve also dicked around in Haiti and Mexico far more than just once or twice, militarily at that. Of course, what also is missing is all the “soft” coups (which didn’t quite involve a military junta) which number far greater than this list and with many successes, and all the failed coups (like their very, very recent attempts in Venezuela and Bolivia).

And of course, they’re going back into Haiti again now. Though this time it’s under the veneer of paying the Kenyans to do it (for optics, not even plausible deniability considering the US ambassador to Kenya is openly the one who arranged this whole mess).
