Which was the driver for ban discussions forum, which only contains two posts directly related to it.
In short. Users start posting news outside of scope for the instance causing friction, then set up a liberalnews community in response. Banning ensues.
I had completely forgotten about this drama but reposting to highlight that tension around this is not new.
