Some dev updates tldr below. I’m happy iRacing is reinvesting its success back into itself so extensively.

  • iRacing is in midseason development mode for Season 4.
  • New track projects include Algarve, Misano, Mugello, Pukekohe, Lédenon, Zandvoort, and Navarra.
  • Short oval racing additions are planned, and the historic version of Zandvoort will be kept.
  • The art department is upgrading existing content.
  • The rain project is making progress.
  • Teams have been expanded for various developments.
  • The sim engine is being overhauled.
  • The UI framework is getting a redesign.
  • The web team is working on improvements.
  • Plans for new sim systems and a Career Mode experience are in place.

So many people have a hard time staying on the track when it’s dry. I’m scared of rain 🫣

Honestly, if they have proper rain tyres (and suitable setups for fixed), I don’t see it being too bad. Having watched a few friends toil in rookies before making the step up, it’s just another slice of the skill-pie for drivers to acquire and master.

If I were the the one making decisions, I’d build in some degree of “weather progression” behind the Class levels. For example; Rookies could only ever see damp track at worst, D could encounter light rain, C+ would be fully unlocked potential.

My only actual concern is how authentically they will visualise spray, not being able to see anything really equalises the skill curve!

Lmao God I’m so ready for it. It’ll be utter chaos for sure, but a real challenge that I’m excited for.

I’ve been playing a heavily modded version of Assetto Corsa, and the insane rain effects in the game are mind-blowing.
