Not only ads but tracking and spyware too. I got asked to consent for a shit ton of thrid party cookies seconds after i opened it for the frist time …

It’s proprietary software; what did you expect? That shit will always betray you sooner or later, almost by definition.

I would have liked to think folks on-the-ball enough to ditch Reddit for Lemmy would know better, but nope!

  2. He’s offering a paid version right now, subscription based. There’s talks about an ad free IAP in the short term future
  3. IMHO I don’t see a one time purchase viable if a developer wants to live from just one app (and has to rely on external servers for the app to work)

This is Lemmy, after all, not Reddit. It’s not as if non-ad-supported business models are thin on the ground around here…
