I don’t know if this is just a placebo effect, but it feels like there’s a lot more socialization and faster upvotes in the past hour Sync was released.

I use liftoff now. Is sync an improvement? I find switching between instances to be a bit clunky and having accounts with different instances leads to lots of repeating posts.

Probably depends on what you’re familiar with. I used Sync for Reddit for years, so I’m right at home with the Sync for Lemmy app now.

I’ve been trying a bunch of different apps. Sync can’t post comments yet so haven’t tried that. But imo between liftoff and connect I like connect more.

Obviously it’s working now. There’s no need to reply with the same comment other people have already made.

Liftoff is open source with no ads.

Sync requires a subscription.

Sync requires a subscription.

*if you don’t want ads.

Also it doesn’t look like ads are live yet

They’re live now

Sync does not require a subscription. There is a free ad supported mode.

No it doesn’t if you are ok with the ads.

*for now.

For now, your choice is ads or subscription. We’re still in beta mode though, and the dev has already said there will be a one-time fee pro version soon. So just chill.
