The systemd hate is overblown in my opinion. I’ve never had much of a problem with it.

I, also, use systemd… When running Wayland and x11 window managers there are quite a few dependencies on systemd that are easiest ti handle by just using it. ;)

Same. I don’t care if it “doesn’t follow the UNIX philosophy” or whatever, it gets the job done, is IMHO easy to work with and many guides assume that you have it.

You can, BTW, enable systemd on MX, no problems. I do. It’s a good distro besides that.
