An audit found political staffers in the Ontario government allegedly deleted records and used personal emails during interactions with development lobbyists
There are no penalties for violating Ontario’s Archives and Recordkeeping Act, which bars government staffers from deleting emails, and the maximum fine for violating Ontario’s freedom of information law is $5,000.
So other than a fine that that is basically nothing, there is nothing that can happen?! How can there not be “something” to deter people from deleting what ever they want? I don’t know much about the laws involved in this but hope something will come of this.
