We’re officially at a road death rate of one a day so far this year. Stay safe, don’t speed, be sober, belt up, and throw your phone in the boot.

Road to zero has been an absolute failure so far.

But if they reduce the speed limit to zero that should put paid to many of the problems.

I do hear talk of reducing rural roads in my region to 70-80kph (which they’ve already done on long straight sections of state highway) and I find it’s made it worse because people are now behaving even less rationally than they used to.

They’re absolutely delusional if they think those limits will be obeyed.

Yes, instead of being negative about it, we could promote the number of deaths in an aspirational way. Treat it like GDP - the more the better. It’s a sign of a vibrant economy.

I realise you’re being facetious, but increased economic productivity is one of the reasons behind the UK wanting to raise their speed limits.

The other is the fact that almost half of motorists break them on a regular basis.

You consistently have some of the dumbest takes I’ve ever heard, keep up the good work.
