Hello. Like many of you I am here from Reddit. A very old and not well known feature of Reddit was to hide posts that you had downvoted. I was a fan of this feature, and it’s not available in Lemmy.

Why is this great ?

This is a way to get a fresh view of your homepage. If you are infuriated because one of your favourite subreddit has too many posts about one subject, just downvote posts and forget about them.

Do you think that this could be easily implemented?

I mean, it’s a feature available on Reddit as an option. It can be an option too, disabled by default.

We could debate, but I think that on the contrary, it’s what can keeps people without agendas in communities instead of quiting them. I keep curating the communities I like by downvoting content that should not be in these communities, and forget about it. If one post is controversial, I don’t downvote it since the comments are interesting and I don’t want it to be hidden.

I didn’t realize Reddit had that option.

Thanks for being a friendly internet person.

  1. Posts should be related to the Avelon app in some way. Be civil :)
  2. If you have a feature request/bug report, mark the post with [Feature Request] or [Bug]. That way they’re easier to find for everyone!
  3. If you’re reporting a bug, please include the iOS version, Avelon version, the device you’re using, and any steps necessary to reproduce the bug. Screenshots are also very helpful. The more information you include, the quicker the bug can be squashed! Thanks!
