“conservative only” = “raising kids is womens work.”

Can’t be sure, but when I was growing up in rural America the belief was that if a boy was watching kids (already ‘women’s’ work) then there was a higher likelihood they’d be touched. If the kids were girls, even applying for the job would have gotten you some flack.

Because only men can be pedophiles, of course.
