My husband in tech related job has been out of work for almost a year. He applies to things daily and has an interview once every two weeks or so (not counting many follow up interviews). He’s a decent interviewer. The usual response is, we like you for this, we’ll keep you in mind in the future, we just had so many applicants and the other guy is a better fit (or, we suspect, will do this job for less money).
