I’m convinced he just wants out at this point. Hasn’t exactly been spectacular, Man U isnt doing as well as he would have hoped and he has created himself the image of being a lazy difficult player.
Is there a win for him at United though?

He doesn’t apologise. Gets shipped out with a payoff and plays shite somewhere else. He has money and pride.

I don’t think all of these are equally likely but apologising probably isn’t going to work out for him at this point.
