Alright folks. I just got finished working with @ruud@lemmy.world and all connection issues with lemmy.world should be completely resolved.

After patching the nginx.conf of lemmy.world to allow CORS connections, I issued a patch to wefwef, 0.8.1, to allow direct connections. This removes all proxying, and clients should connect directly to lemmy.world.

This patch feels like repairing a car while driving it, but hey!
