Merry greetings, wrap up warm :3
In spirit of the 2007scape threads, we’re here on Lemmy, MK IV!
Post your achievements, goals, shenanigans, thoughts on new updates, and so on!
I’ll start, still healing up on the broken shin, finding a place to live, life is starting to look up! Slowly reaching 99 slayer (10 Hydras from 96!) after which I will resume my rightful place as being a ToB nut ;)
I was a massive plonker and chucked my scythe so started back from nil again, which is a feeling I’m quite acquainted with. A week in of mobile only (since my laptop broke!), and a lot of herb runs, hydra and abusing elves and I’m back at 50m+ now…
However, fear not, I have devised a dastardly plan to turn myself into a hydra bot; I snagged a Steam Deck! Does anyone have any cool tips/tricks for running Runelite on it?
I’m very familiar with Linux but was wondering how much I could push myself PvM wise with it (as much as I can on 20 def). Still it seems like having all the features of RuneLite whilst being able to play anywhere seems awesome, as well as being able to use it as a full blown pc with the dock. A very nice piece of kit indeed :)
As regarding updates, I’ve been out of the loop a bit, anything interesting? As a Pure I sometimes miss some of Main and Iron spectacles.
Cheers, Ew0
(TIP: If you’re poor get 85 thieving and go pickpocket elves. You’ll be rich. Also if you want a few free deaths for deaths coffer everyday, make some moonlight mead :)
Oo, do you have a source for that (licensed tech)? I guess they may be using closed-source stuff then maybe but I wonder how they port it to Mac!
Mod Ash mentioned it on Twitter: https://twitter.com/JagexAsh/status/1701861633532792883
Mod Korpz tells me it’s built from tech licensed from another company. Inserting Linux support into it is apparently a considerably bigger ask than it sounds :(

Interesting, that’s nice to know they’re not just being obstinate… I wonder what license lets them use it for Mac but not Linux. Thanks!
Mac has a lot more proprietary libraries not available on Linux, which is why you’ll see a lot of software supported on Mac but not Linux. My understanding of it at least, so just a lot more work to get it going on Linux universally.
