drop’s picks of the week:

Riders Republic $15 USD now on Steam

All Ubisoft games have gone on sale recently and Riders Republic has finally been freed from the shackles of Epic Game Store/Ubisoft Connect exclusivity on PC. If you’re a freak like I am and miss the days of Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX, 1080° Snowboarding and Pilotwings, you may want to check this one out. It’s graphically inferior to a lot of current gen games but the smooth gameplay, soundtrack and a pretty nifty rewind button provide a very comfortable arcade experience while doing some extreme sports. For those of you who like a bit of a challenge, you can disable assistance and control your rider yourself which serves to add bonuses to your gains. Oh yeah, if cringe is still a thing then the tutorial definitely qualifies. Get past that and it’s good times.

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon $30 USD on Steam (Early Access; Price to go up upon release)

Admittedly I’m not much of a board gamer, but developer Questline is working with creator Awaken Realms to adapt a first person game akin to Skyrim but much, much darker. The Fall of Avalon is a continuation on Arthurian legend, where a world once cleansed by the mythical character is again being plagued. You awaken in a prison cell and are shortly after freed by a man who claims that you have the responsibility not only reclaim Excalibur, but kill Arthur himself. The quest seems like madness, surely Arthur is long dead, right? Still, he provides you the task and he was kind enough to free you… As of right now, only the first chapter is available which, if you’re thorough like I am, will take you around 20 hours to complete. In those 20 hours you’ll have multiple options for progressing the story, collecting bounties on bandits, discovering the mysteries of the druids, continuing the path you were set on or not; betray your word and work in favor of Arthur if you so choose.

Cool, looks very Quake or Unreal to me! What would you compare it to?
