Recently got a new Trane variable speed HVAC. As part of the project I had to replace my Ecobee and get the trane “communicating” thermostats. Have the ComfortLink II xl850. Its great. No real complaints but I was used to ecobee with room sensors where it could average the temp in several rooms or only manage to the temp in a bedroom when on the “sleep” setting since I don’t care if my living room is comfortable at 3am but my bedroom I care very much. Anyone have ideas on how to achieve the same results. Location of the actual thermostat isn’t a great representation of the overall temp of the home and can be quite a bit off from bedroom with doors closed. The installer suggested I leave doors open and a fan running to equalize which wasn’t the answer I wanted.
Your xl850 supports remote temperature sensors and can do what you want. Have a look at ZSENS930AW
You didn’t specify exactly which Trane system you got, but I’d bet a dollar that the Ecobee can also be configured to run with that system rather than reliance on the xl850.
I prefer the xl850 to the Ecobee, but because of my particular climate, my thermostat requirements are significantly lower than many people. I simply do not require a lot of home automation control over the thermostat.
Could I do two of those and average them or does it only “read” one at time?
