Is it just me, or are Lemmygrad’s servers just constantly going down? It has gone down multiple times today for me.

was 404 for me a bit. now seems fine? which led me to want to ask: when lemmygrad is down where should we all go to ask questions etc.? i searched the web but i mostly found older times when people asked, ”is lemmygrad down?” is there a friendly instance that isnt overloaded (like lemmy.ml)? a backup community?

We got lots of people fleeing reddit, lots of people accessing our communities from other servers, and lots of other servers being accessed from this one. I think at least one server timeout is inevitable.

If you have cash to burn and want to be nice to the fediverse, start your own server and take some of the load off of lemmygrad.ml. But let’s be honest, what communist has that kind of money

Out of curiosity, how much do these things cost?

I actually looked into it after talking out of my ass here, and really you just need a raspberry pi as long as you aren’t planning on sharing. Which is basically no money at all. I might look into doing this with my old laptop.

Can someone host a lemmygrad.ml copy and have nginx reverse proxy to that other server to manage traffic? Or am I misunderstanding how the internet works.
