I don’t mean to but I lost one of my best friends partially this way :(
It’s hard to control sometimes
If I ever find someone who cares about communism/Unix/Plan 9/computer architecture (I see all these as deeply interconnected) as much as I do our power will be unstoppable
Edit: Thanks everyone for your replies and for sharing your experiences, it means a lot to me. I want to reply to everyone I just don’t know what to say lol
Like others have said: you’re probably neurodivergent in some way and honest to god I think the best thing you can probably do is find other neurodivergent people. I’ve known my S.O. and current friendgroup for about 3 years and TBH I’ve never felt anywhere as comfortable at being perceived as I have been with all of them cause we’re all pretty sure we’re somewhere on the spectrum. Last time we hung out one of them went off for like half an hour on an impassioned rant about flashlights and it was kinda just cool to see someone being super passionate about such a niche thing. I’ve kind of trained myself to warn a lot of people or ask consent before I explain things like leverless controllers and SOCD cleaning and the impact it has on fighting game tournaments but I know if I wanted to talk about it there they’d just be excited to hear me being excited. Its wild when you find a friendgroup where your weird kinda overlaps with theirs.
What’s your take on Capcom changing the rules for up down socd. I hate it because my stupid hands keep holding down when I want to jump a command grab.
I transitioned to leverless after they made the rule change cause they at least finally agreed on what the standard was: so I didn’t have any sort of preconceived notions or habits to unlearn. Just as a hypothetical exercise: Last pressed wins sounded busted as all hell…but James Chen kinda sold me on the idea that the best way might actually be first pressed wins. Ultimately though I think Capcom’s rule change was based on the fact that 4+6=5 is how they actually programmed Street Fighter 6 to interpret inputs within the game itself so them declaring that as a hardware rule on top of it makes sense even if its not the best route.
Yeah I’m sure I’ll eventually figure it out, my buddy plays manon and it feels so fucking bad getting grabbed when I’m literally holding the jump button lmao. It definitely made things like flash kick feel free but it never seemed busted as someone who doesn’t fuck with charge characters anyway. The shit diago was running where he’d hold back, tap forward without releasing back to do sonic boom and then start charging again next frame was busted though so I’m glad they did something. I just hate having to fight 7 years of muscle memory if I wanna go to evo.
