If you’re going to plant grass, make it native to your area, wildlife depends on it.

After much searching I figured out there are no true native lawns in my area (Zone 10b, SF Bay Area, California). The native grasses are all bunch grass. I originally wanted the grass for the dogs but see they don’t even care so the new plan is native plants with earthen walkways.

I figure a patch of grass for pets/kids with a bunch of natives around it is a million times better than doing nothing at all.

Yes but the dogs don’t even care about the grass. They like exploring around the bushes and shrubs.
