There’s a community I want to subscribe to but it isn’t listed under the All sorting.
It seems that if nobody on your instance has previously interacted with a particular community from another instance, then it won’t show up under “all” in the communities list.
In this situation, you should be able to search for the full name of the community (!community@instance
), that should trigger a sync of that community. After that, you’ll be able to subscribe.
Note that it’s also possible for instance admins to block some other instances completely - in that case, you won’t be able to subscribe to any communities from that particular instance.
I’ve had this issue too and I tried searching as you suggested without any luck on Lemm.ee
The one I was looking for in particular was us_news@lemmygrad.ml
I can see it from the large list of communities if I am in Lemmy.ml, but not in Lemm.ee
At the moment it shows up in search for me: https://lemm.ee/search/q/!us_news%40lemmygrad.ml/type/All/sort/TopAll/listing_type/All/community_id/0/creator_id/0/page/1
It could very well be that when you searched for it, you initiated a sync, and now the sync is completed so it’s showing up. OR alternatively maybe you did a search without the leading “!” symbol in the community name?
