I know that karma is a contentious issue on Lemmy, but I like having the feature where it is displayed on user profiles. For trolls especially, it helps to know if they should be ignored or not, like if they have -3000 karma for example. I have always noticed karma appearing in boost when viewing a user’s profile, but today after logging out and back in, I noticed I no longer have that feature. Karma is no longer shown on profiles for me.

It doesn’t seem like anyone else is having the issue and the recent changelog entries don’t mention it. Did I inadvertently change a setting and now I just can’t find that setting to change it back?

I’m glad the karma stuff is gone, personally

Yeah, it probably is best for most scenarios. I really only care in the scenario I outlined. If someone has thousands of comments and -3000 karma I know they probably shouldn’t be taken seriously. But oh well.

I wish the API would at least return an upvote/downvote ratio for the user, like it does for posts. It’d make it easy to spot trolls without creating the incentive for karma whoring.

That’s a good idea.

I had about that much before they removed it. Well into the negatives. But I also had a lot of up votes. However, I was into the negatives because of a certain group of people who dog pile you for wrong think. I’d hate for somebody to ignore me because I had negative “karma” just because certain groups of people made it their mission in life to silence me.

Yeah no… After enough scrolling through your history I see you being a bit of a nutter. That’s not people trying to “silence you” it’s you being crazy and people giving you werid looks. You are at best a troll at worst huffing trumps farts to a worrying extent.

Can’t say anything about the comments removed by moderators but seeing what isn’t removed makes me suspect they were probably quite vile to get removed while those others stayed.
