I’ve been is the market for fidget toys and compared prices between Ali, Etsy, and Amazon and it’s fucking nuts how much of a lawless wasteland Etsy has become. It’s actually as bad or worse than Amazon. Those playing card magnetic clicky toys go for $5 or so on Ali but you can find the same thing on Etsy for anywhere between $15 and $35. And they call it homemade to boot lol. And it’s not just those. I’ve looked up a bunch and they are all mostly 400% makeup.

I’m basically only using Etsy for anything that is obviously homemade(3d printed or like handmade per order custom stuff) now and it’s mostly because I wanna support the vendors that are actually legit in a niche market for stuff like fidgets or like mechanical keyboards.

Yeah like for sure it’s easy to figure out what is really handmade, and like support them if you want and can because this is probably their livelyhood. But it’s insane the amount of stuff on there that is clearly not artisan but they try to peddle it as such.

Yeah everybody is seeing how far they can go with ad indicators. Google search is similar, for example.
