Hello! Since I’m unable to find a public searxng instance that could work for more than a week and sadly cannot selfhost one, I’m looking for a replacement. I so found Swisscows, that promise to be privacy respecting, but here on lemmy didn’t find any opinion on it. Do any of you use it? Why or why not?
I’m also considering Qwant and Mojeek.

Swisscows is a good and private search engine…if you have little childrens, because it’s family save level Flanders, yes or yes. I use mainly Andisearch, Mojeek and Whoogle, sometimes also Perplexity. Apart also specific ones (Pixabay, Wikipedia, Wolphram Alpha, some forums, etc…)

https://andisearch.com/?query=%s (Default in the Adress Bar search)

https://www.mojeek.com/search?q=%s (Default in the Search Bar)

https://whoogle.io/search?q=%s (Alternative in the Search Bar)

https://www.perplexity.ai/?q=%s (Dito)

Confused about what? About my opinion on Swisscows, or about the suggest search engines i use? Swisscows is in strong familysafe settings, without options to change it, it respect privacy, but filter strict all NSFW content. The other are also privacy centred, most Andisearch, and way better for any researches. I also add them with the needed scripts, to make it easier to copy them in the browser search engine list and use them from the search bar, if someone want.

I’m still confused. Are you saying swiss cows is bad because it doesn’t have nsfw content or are you saying its good for your family? I’m lost

I didn’t like the rate limits on public instances and I am self hosting my own for me and my family. But maybe everything will be fine for you :)

I self host Whoogle and it’s a really nice interface. However, recently is has started to take longer and longer to load, sometimes giving up and returning a 502 error. If you don’t run into that however, it’s super nice!

Perhaps there is a problem with the server hoster? Or configuration problems? What I really miss are site icons next to the URL. The search speed drops due to their absence. I hope they add it in the future.
