Rep. Nancy Mace announced she plans to support Rep. Jim Jordan to replace ousted House speaker Kevin McCarthy, whom she voted to remove from office last week. When pressed about the allegations that Jordan ignored sexual assaults by a team doctor while he was a wrestling coach at Ohio State University, the Republican congresswoman claimed to not “know anything” about the issue, despite it being widely reported.
“I know you’ve been outspoken about defending victims of sexual assault,” Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan said to Mace on Sunday. “Do the past allegations against Jim Jordan that he turned a blind eye to sexual abuse give you any reservations? How do you square that?”
“Yeah, I’m not familiar or aware with that,” Mace said. “He’s not indicted on anything that I’m aware of. And so I don’t, I don’t know anything, and I can’t speak to that.”
“I don’t know anything about that,” Mace continued. “What I do know is that I’ve been a very strong voice for women. I’ve talked to Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise about that. I’ve been a very strong advocate for rape victims.”
This is the best summary I could come up with:
Mace also noted she is working on a bill with Democratic Rep. Barbara Lee to address the large backlog of unprocessed rape kits.
Host Margaret Brennan pressed Mace on her endorsement, pointing out harsh words from former Rep. Liz Cheney, who recently cautioned Republicans not to elect Jordan speaker because he was the member of Congress who knew the most about Trump’s plans for Jan. 6.
Trump has been credibly accused of sexually assaulting multiple women, and lost not just one but two defamation suits brought by columnist E. Jean Carroll after he denied that he raped her in a department store dressing room in the 1990s.
The original article contains 686 words, the summary contains 196 words. Saved 71%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
Ignoring allegations of ignoring allegations? It’s almost too perfect.
She really said “I don’t know” five times in row like that? WTF.
Edit. Read the article. This lady is absolutely delusional.
Jim Jordan is a full on clown. I’ve seen live house debates where he literally yelled nonsense at people. And that’s the guy they want to be speaker of the house?
Who tf is Nancy Mace?
The dumbass politician that vandalized her own home years ago in an attempt to stay relevant and play the victim card… https://twitter.com/bessbell/status/1399824925800636416?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1399824925800636416|twgr^1c8cb271bc477781f47bed25c647c91663ca0e85|twcon^s1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.snopes.com%2Ffact-check%2Fnancy-mace-rumor-alert%2F Also her father was some big wig military asshole… typical southern republican corrupt power-family bullshit. Nancy Mace can fuck right off.
My biggest socialedia pet peeve: why is it that those who know the least of a topic are the first to comment on it?
To add context to the answer below, its significant as she was one of the few Repubs who publicly blamed Trump for Jan 6, but she’s been tacking hard right as of late.
Yeah… my pet peeve is people who feel the need to say that first sentence. Like, can’t you just hold back to be civil?
Wasn’t being uncivil, nor was that my intent, just clearly suggesting that if you don’t know much about a topic, perhaps having some self-restraint and not commenting would be a better course for all.
