Liberals, though thoroughly soaked in vile propaganda and unquestioned beliefs, mostly still have a sense of morality once they feel reality kicking in. In normal life, you could take almost anyone from the street, present them with survivors of the Donezk bombings and tell them their story, they’d almost certainly agree that Ukraine has been committing war crimes since 2014. Von der Leyen, however, is a professional politician, which means she possesses the skill to subordinate her morality to the profit motive.
