I’ve seen bad stand-up too so that seems an unfair status to judge them not belonging on.

Never though have I been searching for stand-up and thought, “You know what? I hope someone uses a guitar as a crutch for their nervousness about the format.”

I likewise don’t mind funny song in proms or variety shows. Those are for a variety of things. I just maintain they aren’t stand-up and their inclusion in specifically stand-up sets weakens the whole show.

I support the singers of funny songs and encourage people into that to follow the passion.
I hope they get a show in an appropriate showcase.

I also love stand-up and wish everyone into that genre the confidence to do it directly.
