One thing I miss about r/science is coming to the comments for stuff like this to see it immediately debunked by someone smarter than me. I hope this is not bullshit, but after many years of seeing these science journalism articles, I immediately assume it absolutely is bullshit
This is exactly it. The hope is real, but usually fleeting. Come on experts, get over here and tell us if this is bullshit, please. It has to be, right? I’m talking commercial over the counter option, tube of toothpaste, a few minty applications and bam! Strong-ass teeth. This article makes all that seem plausible.
I cannot wait to have dentistry be a thing of the past, and we can actually heal our darn teeth.
Getting there:
In preclinical trials, participants received a dental lozenge the size of a cough drop, with a core of calcium and phosphate coated in a layer of peptide-infused flavoring.
Not yet:
Further research is needed to investigate the permeability and chemical stability of the mineral layer to achieve an effective, easy-to-apply treatment for dentin hypersensitivity, including implementing the peptide-guided approach under in vivo conditions.
