Midwest.social is “a Lemmy server for, but not limited to, leftists in the Midwest USA” according to the person running it. Head on over and join the conversation!

I’m still trying to wrap my head around how the Fediverse works. I’m gonna stick with hanging out on lemmy.world to reach this group.

Also, to the midwest.social admin: Have you seen how many of those other reddit clones that do not cater to “leftists” turn in to Right Wing cesspools? Don’t forget what happened to Voat! I think I’d rather hang out with a few “leftist” than hang out with an online community that lures people on the right that tries to swoon them towards fascism.

That’s pretty much the short of it. Unfortunately, if a social media site proclaims itself to be a “free speech” platform, the inevitable end is that it will be filled with fascists. I had high hopes for Voat back when it started, too.

As for the communities and the fediverse, you probably should subscribe to the midwest.social STL and/or MO instances because they’ve seen a lot more activity. (Links you can subscribe to with your lemmy.world account copied again below.) If these ones on lemmy.world don’t gain much traction I may set them to not allow posts and just keep them up as a redirect to the midwest.social instances.
