“It’s an acquired taste” = “it tastes like shit, but eventually you won’t care because you developed a dependency”
Nope, good beer actually tastes good. And I only drink beer at most once a week, so no dependency here.
1, you’re partner is wrong. Alcoholism is a dependence that affects your daily life.
2, it’s not at the same time, just the odd beer with friends if we go out.
Meh. I used to say the same thing about kale, tomatoes, etc. some stuff grows on you. Beer still tastes bad.
I say the same thing about hot sauce. Send me your hate, IDGAF!!
You need to try better beers, there is a ton of variety and flavours, and not everyone is going to enjoy all of them. I don’t like IPAs, but I love a good Wheat beer.
Oh yeah, tell me about the wheat beer. What’s your go-to; Franziskaner, Rothaus, Weihenstephaner?
Weihenstephaner is my number one, love the standard and the dunkel. Erdinger is also very good. Blanche de Chambly is quite nice and I get it when I can.
Of the people I know who don’t like beer, they’re almost all sweet tooth’s. So if you prefer a sweeter taste on the palate then it makes sense that beer isn’t your thing. Even the blandest of lagers is inherently bitter. I don’t necessarily think it’s an acquired taste, I think it’s an acquired taste for people who already like that flavour profile.
Beer is such a diverse beverage though. Some stouts and porters are very sweet with a strong chocolate or caramel flavour and barely any bitterness at all. Then there’s IPAs where the bitterness is the star of the show. IMO there’s no such thing as “beer flavour” as there are infinite varieties of hops, malt and yeast, and combinations thereof.
Dude I love beer in all its forms, and while sweetness is a component in many beers, it’s not a sweet drink no matter how you spin it. If you are a person who likes Moscato or exclusively fruity cocktails, beer is going to taste like dirt for you.
Sorry, I agree with the person above. I have a sweet tooth and I don’t like beer. At all. Even when someone says, “this is a sweet porter with a strong caramel flavor,” it is too bitter for me to enjoy. I have willingly tried beer many times due to people like yourself insisting that they know a beer I’ll like. Nope. On the other hand, a sweet wine like a port, sign me up.
