Is there any way to not have my Voyager browsing show up in my default browser (firefox) history. I do actually occasionally use my browser history to find pages I’ve looked at while browsing the internet… But my browser history is absolutely overflowing with hundreds of page views from using the “app”. I know it’s a web app but is it possible to have it use private mode (even better if I don’t have to login every time I open the app if using private browsing).

You could use a separate browser just for Voyager. I use Bromite because Firefox’s support for web apps is unfortunately rather lacking compared to Chromium based browsers.

You probably should not be using Bromite, it is very out of date. I would recommend Mulch or the Bromite fork from uazo instead

Hey, thanks for the warning!
Quick question, I took a look at Mulch but I’m a bit confused. Their GitHub repo says to look at their GitLab, but their GitLab only has one commit?
Where do they host the code for Mulch?

I would have to look, but maybe on divestos.com

On Android, you could use Hermit, which is an “Advanced Web Browser for Power Users, optimized for Lite Apps & Privacy.”

This is exactly what I needed :-) not quite the same plugin support as Firefox but it’ll do. Thank you

How do you install a lite app without the browser badge in the corner? Every app I install has the hermit logo in the bottom right as if it’s a bookmark.

I don’t know if you can. I dont see an option to disable it in Hermit’s settings. However, I did notice that badge when I installed the Voyager PWA in Vanadium (GrapheneOS Chromium variant), so I know it doesn’t necessarily mean “bookmark” nor is it unique to Hermit.

You could always ask in !hermit@lemmy.world

I tried, but it doesn’t work as well. Has problems with scrolling etc.

Edit: I was completely wrong. This has nothing to do with private mode. See reply here : https://thelemmy.club/comment/849236

FWIW, I only browse the web on iOS in private mode. And added Voyager as the PWA whilst in private mode. None of my voyager history shows up in my safari history as a result.

No, in iOS PWAs never show in Safari’s history regardless

I also use Safari, but I rarely use Private Browsing on my phone and I don’t have the history showing up.

All I’ve been able to find on this is that they’re experimenting but haven’t confirmed anything yet.
