We didn’t get a video, but my first employer (Food Lion, a grocery store) did give us almost an identical spiel about once a year as “mandatory training”.

“Speed…and customer obsession are not typically associated with unions.” Gee, you think?

Usually giant companies like Amazon are overly concerned with optics. So one would think that the long list of “warning signs” to look for in your coworkers’ behavior would have made someone go “hey, maybe we should make this a little less fascist before we ok it.” Jesus fucking christ.

And, again, your point?

Amazon is afraid of unions. So, you’re saying that some workers might not agree? That doesn’t contradict the previous statement. Are you arguing in favor of Amazon’s actions? Are you criticizing employees who didn’t unionize? There doesn’t really seem to be any point to your statements.

My apologies for sounding argumentive; my intention is simply to try to understand where you are going with this…

Just goes to show you that unions work, otherwise they would not be so scared of it.

You might not interpret the motive as based on fear, if you think your employer loves you wants to make you happy and feel protected.

Umm, that wouldn’t change the truth? I guess I’m confused about what your argument is…

If everyone already knew the truth, then most arguments would be without value.

Work Reform

!workreform@lemmy.world

Create post

A place to discuss positive changes that can make work more equitable, and to vent about current practices. We are NOT against work; we just want the fruits of our labor to be recognized better.

Our Philosophies:

  • All workers must be paid a living wage for their labor.
  • Income inequality is the main cause of lower living standards.
  • Workers must join together and fight back for what is rightfully theirs.
  • We must not be divided and conquered. Workers gain the most when they focus on unifying issues.

Our Goals

  • Higher wages for underpaid workers.
  • Better worker representation, including but not limited to unions.
  • Better and fewer working hours.
  • Stimulating a massive wave of worker organizing in the United States and beyond.
  • Organizing and supporting political causes and campaigns that put workers first.
