I recently finished this Nakashima inspired side table. The top slab is butternut and the base slab and foot are maple.

I haven’t tested haha. You can’t see it in the picture but there’s a horizontal support under the top that’s bridle jointed into the slab leg so it’s pretty sturdy. I can stack it with books and a laptop and that’s good enough for me
