Israel was once a shining light of the potential of socialism and democracy. Those nationalist terrorists that went on to form likud are the rot that has turned it into what it is. King, being a christian socialist, I’m sure saw great value in a socialist state with religious underpinnings. Unfortunately Zionism proved to be a stronger influence.

Deeply conservative religious folks are frequently fascist.
It comes with the notion that their religion is the right one, and everyone else’s is wrong, and of course its entirely appropriate to kill them for it.
Zionist’s are on par with the worst zealots of any other religion on that score.

Yeah, he was right in the middle of his rightwing takeover of the government by neutering the power of Israeli courts when this war broke out, and he isn’t polling well. I suspect this is informing his decision making.
