This is pretty big for people with Mali phones. Switch emulation on Android is looking more and more viable!
Ahhh so the Pixel line is up for emulation then. The Tensor has proven itself to be a powerhouse in emulation already so I expect it’d perform great here too.
I doubt my s9+ is going to work well, even if it falls within the requirements. But will give it the good old college try.
Edit: Still on the old one here, will have to wait for the mainline and I’ll post results then. For reference as it is now, even something as simple as FFVI runs at 15fps.
A week and two updates later. FPS stays at 15 but for some reason now I get a warning that it needs 8gb ram that I didn’t get before and tge loading times are much worse.
The game is playable, being pixel art and old, you don’t really feel the 15 fps and they don’t make it unplayable or anything.
That said, I wouldn’t play this game on a phone anyways even if it run at 60 locked and I fully understand that my s9+ will never be good enough for yuzu. That’s not a criticism of the emulator whatsoever, just reporting how it plays on old exynos phones.
Wake me up when they convert this emulator to an actual ARM translation layer, just like Skyline. Until they do, this emulator will get any cellphone very hot, and thermal throtling will limit its potential.
