Sorry if this is a really basic question, how do I upload an image? Is there a max size, I’ve tried twice, but I can’t see the image once I create the post.
Your help is very much appreciated.

There’s a max size of 100kb for direct uploads (on lemm.ee specifically, it varies per server). Otherwise you can use an image-hosting service like Imgur (or whatever the kids are into these days) and add it one of two ways:
If you’re making a post, add the image url to the url field.
If you’re making a comment, use this syntax
